Literary Bridges' Mission
Literary Bridges' Mission
Mission:
Literary Bridges creates pathways to success for refugees through book ownership and language remediation. We empower refugees to seek knowledge and take control of their own lives despite the tough situations they are forced into.
Access to quality education is crucial to the self-reliance of refugees, yet refugees in America, of which 51% are school-aged children 18 and younger, miss out on 3-4 years of schooling due to forced displacement, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. That's why Literary Bridges is committed to providing free quality books and literacy based educational programs to refugees across the state of New Jersey and beyond. With the help of volunteers and generous donations, we believe that we can bridge the learning gap through literacy, one book at a time, and give refugees the futures they deserve.
Our Purpose:
Allow refugees a path of self-reliance to a better future through book ownership and literary acquisition.
Our Vision:
We envision a future where refugees have equal and easy access to education to be able to build a better future for themselves.
